The Cement

The first issue that Dr. Maddahi found was with the cement. After about a decade, the color of the crown would change depending on the kind of cement that had been used to adhere it. Some types of cement changed color and became darker over time. The way Dr. Maddahi decided to correct this problem was to develop a proprietary formula — a blend of different cements — to hide the color of the teeth and remain stable over time.

The Porcelain

Another problem arises from the translucency of the porcelain. Over time, this translucency starts to show color from under the crown. Dr. Maddahi troubleshot again and again with various combinations of the porcelains that he already had in use in his practice.
